How many years have you been innkeepers?
We became innkeepers in 2025 when we acquired the historic Miss Murphy’s High Street Inn. While we are new to innkeeping, our approach is shaped by decades of global travel, public service, and people-centered work. Our previous careers took us around the world, where we learned the importance of warm hospitality and creating spaces where people feel genuinely welcome. Those experiences guide how we host–with attention to detail, inclusivity, and a deep appreciation for the stories that bring travelers to Galena.
What do you like best about the Galena community?
Our favorite part of Galena is its seamless blend of history, natural beauty, and genuine community. From the preserved architecture along Main Street to the rolling hills and Mississippi River views, the town feels both timeless and welcoming. After spending most of our adult lives on the East Coast, we’ve come to appreciate that “Midwestern nice” isn’t a cliché–it’s real.
What is your favorite event in Galena or your favorite way to participate and give back?
Galena’s seasonal events are part of what makes this town so special. We especially love the Night of the Luminaria and Living Windows, and, of course, the Halloween Parade, which bring the community together and create magical experiences for visitors.
Giving back is important to us. We support local initiatives, partner with nearby businesses to promote Galena, and encourage guests to shop local, dine local, and explore responsibly–helping sustain the small businesses that make Galena thrive.
